Constructed in 1967 over river Jehlum, Mangla Dam is the 7th largest dam in the world. It is situated in Mirpur District of Azad Kashmir, at a distance of 110 km from Islamabad & 230 Km from Lahore Pakistan. With a total water storage capacity of 7.39 Million Acre Feet, Mangla Dam is a bautiful lake not only used for as water reservoir but also as Hydro power generator.
There are many boating activites available in Mangla Lake along with fishing facility. Best place to visit is the Army water sports club AWSC from where you can rent out Jet ski, 6 pessenger boat & also large boat which has capacity for 30+ people.
Ramkot Fort Mangla is an ancient fort accessible through boat situated besides Mangla lake. It is accessible by land from Dadyal town & by boat from Mangla side which take approx 30 minutes of boat ride.Picturesquely located on the summit of a hill, Ramkot Fort is built over the site of an old Hindu temple on the banks of the Mangla dam lake. It is surrounded by river Jehlum from 3 sides & make it a perfect place to visit.
